The Bachelor is a competitive reality show in which twenty-five women fight for the chance to fall in love with the Bachelor. He is normally good-looking, has many investments in the making, owns his own company, or is a southern gentleman—if the girls are really lucky, he is a combination of the listed attributes. The Bachelor spends group dates and individual dates trying to get to know the girls. Without fail, there are catfights and tears as each girl claws her way closer to the man of her dreams. Each week at an intensely serious rose ceremony (cue the solemn music, the anxiety-stricken faces, and host, Chris Harrison) the Bachelor sends the girls’ home that he doesn’t see a future with. The last four girls remaining take the Bachelor to their hometown to meet the family. The show is intended to end with a proposal, where the Bachelor chooses the one girl he wishes to spend his life with.

Season 7

Season 8
The powers that be decided to mix things up by starting the season with two bachelors. Jay was a city mouse and Byron was a country mouse. The women got to choose which man they wanted to serve as The Bachelor throughout the season by secret rose ballot, and they chose Byron.
